Carr, Newsom, & Binkoff (1980) created a study to discover some of the variables controlling the severely aggressive behavior of two retarded children Sam and Bob. Bob's target behavior (aggression) began when he was 5 years old and took the form of scratching, hitting, kicking, and biting. Sam’s target behavior (aggression) began when he was 6 years old and consisted of pinching, hair pulling, and scratching, again directed at adults. The researcher used the reversal design (ABAB) to see the data of how the subject response with demands and how they response with no demands given. On Bob’s graphthe frequency of his aggressive acts was high during the Demands condition and near zero during the NoDemands condition. During the first baseline (A) of the experiment for Bob the data was stable and started ascending from point 2 to 3. During the first treatment (B) the data for his aggressive behavior was low and stable. The second baseline (B) the data points started ascending again. The last treatment
