(Week 7 / Spring 2009) Note: In this section, we have five problems. The main parts of the problems are taken from the ”Signal Processing First CD”. However, be sure to read all of the problems completely from this handout, since we may add extra parts which do not exist in the CD. Answers to all of the problems will be provided. 1. Signal Processing First CD: ”Chapter 6/Homework/Frequency Response from FIR Difference Equation; h[n]; Sinusoidal Response”. Note: You are to use Matlab’s freqz function to plot the frequency response of the system in part b. Note that freqz outputs normalized frequency, i.e. , ( ˆ w/π ). Therefore, x axis of the plot will be from [0 , 1] which corresponds to [0 ] in ˆ w . Explanation: In this problem, you are to practice the conversion between time domain representation (difference equation and impulse response) and frequency domain representation. Both representations are important, however one may be more intuitive or mathematically tractable depending on the application. 1
