18:55 Krista Morelli English Writing 112 Michael Bennett Paper One Draft Two I took off my flip-flops and squished my toes into the sand. The ocean and the sand sparkles in brilliant blues, greens, and purples by the light of the setting sun. I look around Cooks Brook Beach. I am alone. There is no one else there save a stray dog chasing a group of seagulls farther down the shore. I lean back onto my blanket. I must have sat there for hours, watching as the sun set in a cloudless sky behind the horizon, until the darkness was blanketed in stars. There is something about this beach at night, the quiet lapping of the waves against the shore, the crickets chirping, and the fireflies lighting up against the dark sky. At this moment, I am more in tune with my life than I have been in months. As if Mother Nature is restoring my faith, reminding me that no matter what happens, there will always be the most beautiful of summer nights.
