Dweck1 Abraham Dweck Professor Swanson EN102/ Diagnostic Essay 26 January 2009 Entitlement Generation At the dawn of every new generation come its critics. They look to set the guidelines for what each generation has become or can become. These critics have set the label “Entitlement Generation,” on the current new generation entering the workplace. This in my mind is an accurate description of the current generation as more and more people live their lives not in what they have earned but rather in what they are owed. However, even in this most un-humble way of thinking, more and more employers are looking where to sign up to employee some of these workers. This is because, “We’re valuable” (Albrecht) and because “it takes us less than a year to learn your systems, copy your skills, and identify your company’s flaws” (Albyrcht). The label “Entitlement Generation” is an accurate description of a generation that has had everything fed to them. While other generations such as the Baby Boomers and Generation Xers,
