Dweck 1 Abraham Dweck Professor Swanson EN102/Essay 3 20 April 2009 2. After the terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001, many people began to believe that torture is a necessary of two evils in cases of urgent national security. Under what conditions, if any, is the use of torture justified. Torture: Is There a Limit? On September 11, 2001, the tide changed on the views of torture. Torture is one of the many arguments that will stand the test of time. The main questions are how, when, and if torture should be used on other human beings. The main word here is human, once someone crosses the line from human to animal they have lost any right they had under any government and should be pushed to any limit to get any information. The first thing that must be understood is that any person born onto this planet has his/her rights. But the moment that person forgoes what is humane he loses any rights he had, including the right not to be tortured. So you must be certain that the person you are dealing with is not humane.
