Our purpose is to empower you with increased self-confidence, perseverance, and faith in the Savior as you apply new skills and utilize university resourcesin achieving personal success at BYU-Idaho and beyond.Course OutcomesDevelop Increased Faith in the Savior and His Grace:each student will develop increased faith inthe Savior’s ability to help them deliberately practice improving in ways each student feels s/heneeds to improve in order to achieve success as a BYU-Idaho student.Develop Growth Mindset:Each student will be empowered with the mindset that s/he can do andovercome difficulties.Grit:Each student will practice perseverance and persistence in accomplishing his/her long-termgoalsWhat you will need for class:LaptopPersonal Journal to write in each day during class.Purchase a copy ofGrit, by Angela Duckworth(This will be a primary source for this course; youwill need this by Week 2 in the course)What you need to know to be successful in this course:This is a one-credit class that is meant to challenge your current thinking and help youdevelop growth mindset, grit (perseverance and passion for your long-term goals), andgreater faith in the Savior’s grace.Minimal effort will not equal maximum reward (in terms of a grade). You will receiveout of this class what effort you put into this class.Your instructors want to provide the best opportunity to learn and help you be successfulin this course. Don’t hesitate to talk to them about challenges you are facing.
