Name: Zachary J Mullins Class: Intro to Biology Instructor: Jillian Osborne Date: February, 15, 2020 Week 5 Application Assignment 1. Central Dogma is a procedure where the instructions in DNA are transformed into a form of practical product. It was first brought up by Francis Crick in 1958. 2. First the mRNA binds itself with ribosomes, second elongation is the chain moving directions because of GTP and several protein/ enzyme complexes. Third Termination stops the processes by adding water at the end of the chain, instead of amino acids. 3. I think that biotechnology would be important for me because it would help further the curing and detection of cancers which is something that is important to know and cure. Also, help create new drugs to help cure illness. ------------------------------
1. The RNA molecules involved in translation are known as messenger RNA. The protein synthesis machinery is ribosome. Peptide chain grows by the activity of transfer RNA which brings amino acid to the ribosome 2. One example of the type of mutation in DNA would be Insertion.
