Sustainability Project ENSC 406 – Spring 2007 Assigned: February 9, 2007 Due: Monday, April 9, 2007 Group Size: 2 to 4 people The final project for ENSC 406 is designed so that you can research and analyze a technology/procedure that is related to sustainability. You are to complete the project in groups of 2 to 4 people. You are free to choose your own topic, but I’ve included a list that you may select from as well: Clean coal technology Hybrid car technology Geothermal heating Solar energy Hydrogen Biomass RoHS compliant technology E-waste Recycling and Up-cycling Windpower Hydropower You should analyze your topic using the triple bottom line of technology: Environmental (Ecology), Economic, and Social Equity. In general, you should consider the following in your analysis: What is the history behind the technology? How does population growth affect the technology or how does the technology address population growth? How are resources consumed, replenished, and/or saved? How does the technology compare to current systems? How can the technology be incorporated into public usage (i.e., is government legislation required)?
