David Trinh 16:34:44 LAW-310 Professor G. Hicks 6. The following quote and questions are drawn from Leonard Lewin’s “Ethical Aptitude Test.” As with other goods and services, the medical care available to the rich is superior to that available to the poor. The difference is most conspicuous in the application of new and expensive lifesaving techniques. a. Is ability to pay an acceptable way to allocate such services? Explain. i. I would say the ability to pay is an acceptable way to allocate such services because in US we are not communist because if we are then everyone would get the same thing if they weren’t doing anything. People have to work hard just to get what they want the most and the “poor” would just simply just get it for less because they don’t have the money to pay for it. I would say in the world you would have to work hard just to earn what you deserve. If you are like a couch potato or simply just sit and do nothing all day and spend money on useless things while the “rich” which saves their money and spend it wisely and work twice as hard as normal people I think it would be a class issue. In my opinion, I say people should work hard to get that they deserve. b.
