This guide is an extra tool we provide to better direct you in your study, the exam will not be worded exactly in this way. 1. Wood Anatomy a) Two types of trees discussed in class i) Common and scientific names ii) Different species of each type b) Compare the two types of trees by i) Evolutionary age ii) Types of leaves and whether they lose them or not (What is the term for losing the leaves?) iii) Seed type c) Three basic parts of the tree and their function. d) Transport of water up a tree. e) Be able to draw a cross section of a tree (like you are looking down on the top of a stump). Roughly note where the bark, phloem, cambium, and xylem (sapwood and heartwood) are.
