Diego Hernando September 18, 2007 Isaac Bustos MUSC-200-532 Guitar Heroes Assignment 1 Fantasies are well constructed pieces that revolve around a theme, meaning that everything is related to the theme that stated at the beginning. They are also improvisatory, not improvised, pieces that have many variations on the single line, or melody. John Dowland and Francesco da Milano are two well known Renaissence composers because of their works, which include fantasies. Dowland was born in London about 1563 and died in 1626. He became the greatest composer of the Renaissance and a distinctive lutenist recognized from his fantasies and galliards, which he composed for the lute. Francesco da Milano (1497-1543) was an Italian lutenist and composer that worked mainly for the Papal Court. His works were published throughout Europe, including his fantasies and recercars, (like fantasy pieces but more improvisatory) his trade mark kind of piece.
