Assignment 2 In-class performance of October 18, 2007 Due October 25, 2007 Guidelines: 1) You must first research the music being performed. I have included Mr. Forshee’s program and bio here in order for you to become familiar with his work and the pieces he will play in his program. Using search engines such as Google, Wikipedia etc is an extremely helpful tool. You must bring the program with you to the recital. 2) Once you have familiarized yourselves with the composers and their works, use the internet in order to listen and/or watch these pieces in advance. I recommend going to Amazon, Youtube or Itunes. 3) Your papers MUST include biographical/historical details of the pieces that you discuss in order to receive full credit. 4) Please be sure to ask questions of Mr. Forshee in order to get the performer’s perspective on the works. Other things to focus on may include: Stage presence, tone, repertoire choice/programming, performance practice, tempos, textures, dissonance (especially in the more contemporary pieces like the Brouwer Sonata for guitar), did the performance serve to enhance the learning experience in the class,
