Contrast two types of thought: Plato (classical Greek philosopher, 400BC): internal, rational thought is the only way to discover universal forms. Hume (Scottish philosopher, 18th century): one can only experience. Knowledge is impossible. This dichotomy is still basic to many current arguments. Related questions: Is there a difference between opinion & fact? Opinion: person's ideas and thoughts towards something. An assessment, judgment or evaluation of something. Fact: something that is true, something that actually exists or something that can be verified according to an established standard of evaluation. Can you go from one to the other?
