The Protagonist s Percival: Young, pious, naïve Raised in the forest Over protective mother Little knowledge of chivalry or manners Roy: Young, very talented, naïve Country bumpkin, from Idaho Refers to his mother as “that bird” Little knowledge of city life and manners The Quest Percival: Becomes a knight Must prove himself worthy Wins many matches Goal is to find the Holy Grail Roy: Becomes a baseball player o Is a NY Knight Must prove himself worthy o Strikes out the Whammer o Knocks cover off of ball Sets many records Goal is to be the best there ever was The Journey Percival meets a knight who mentors him Percival is sidetracked by Blanchefor Percival fails to help the Fisher King and begins his quest for the grail Roy has Sam Simpson and then Red Blow Roy is sidetracked by Harriet Bird and Memo Paris Roy has a quest for personal greatness, Red tries to steer him towards a championship to heal Pop Characters The Fisher King is lame in one leg o A sign of impotence His lands are barren and infertile Percival fails to act and heal the Fisher King Fisher King needs the Holy Grail to be cured Pop “Fisher” has athlete’s feet on his hands
