1. ARGUMENT : The United States government is waging a global war against terrorism, which carries direct implications for Asian Americans. a. Global war on terror i. Definition 1. The War on Terror – a campaign initiated by Bush administration which includes various military, political, legal and personal actions taken to "curb the spread of terrorism," following 9/11 attacks on the United States. 2. However – “The terrorist attacks of 9/11, the war against the Taliban, and Bush’s “war on terror” merely provided further impetus for a plan that had been in the works for at least a decade.” (p226-227) b. 9/11 – a false flag? – There are indications that the government manipulated the 9/11 event to start a war against Iraq. i. First Iraq War (“Gulf War”) 1. US ensuring its influence and control of oil in Iraq ii. How Bush administration sold Iraq War after 9/11 (p229-231) 1. Link Al-Qaeda and Saddam Hussein 2. WMDs 3. Spread democracy iii. Indicators that this was not true 1. Evidence of wanting to go into Iraq before 9/11 occurred (p227-229)
