Canadian Hero John George Pattison John George Pattison is one of the ninety Canadian recipients of the Victoria Cross. He earned his medal at the battle of Vimy ridge in northern France on April 10 th 1917. He single handedly killed an entire German machine gun crew by advancing forward and ducking into shell holes for protection.
