Stacy Devino 5/15/07 Music and Multimedia Altman Paper Home Theater When you are sitting at home or someone else’s, do you realize how different your experience is from when you are at the movie theater? While watching the movie you may not notice, but at the end you somehow remember that it isn’t quite the way that you remembered it. There are many key differences that change the experience. There is the space itself, the authority, and the presentation. The space that you experience cinema in the home or in the movie theater can completely change the perception of the film. When you go to the theater, it is made into an important event; entryways are usually grand and filled with posters of upcoming films and staff is in nice attire, everything very formal. After you hand in your ticket and sit in the theater, the lights go down. The audience is all very situated and kept in their own space, with all their focus on the movie at the screen and ears at the surround sound. Sound is very loud at the movie theater, it has to be louder than all the people and the
