Romans had small deities attached ot weather, fruit, sky, seas Prayers o Very practical, asking for things o Good harvest, luck, lots of day to day things o Lots of things were giving in order to get something, you do something  for me and I return the favor You could say if you do this for me, I will sacrifice this, or do this  Sacrifices were big events o Solemn, serious, sudden death, everyone did it, precise attention to  constant ritual gave rome its good luck, according to the people prayer and sacrifice are a way for you to talk to the gods Divination is the gods talking to you
