Data: Step 1: Adding nitric acid to the copper Chemicals used: ( Include the amounts and concentrations) 0.5233 grams of copper was obtained, and 3.95 ml of 15.7 molar HNO 3 was added to the copper. Observations: The mixture initially turned green and began to bubble. Subsequently, as the copper began to dissolve further the solution turned dark green and red-brown fumes were present. After all the copper dissolved the solution was a dark blue color. Step 2: Adding sodium hydroxide Chemicals added: ( Include the amounts and concentrations) A total of 20.0 ml of NaOH was added to the mixture. Observations: A blue, cloudy precipitate began to form. The pH strip indicated that the solution was basic after 20.0 ml of NaOH. Step 3: Heating - Observations: After 2 minutes of heating brown particles appeared on one side of the beaker, and then began to spread throughout. Once the heating was done dark gray precipitate formed at the bottom and a clear solution at the top. Step 4: Adding sulfuric acid to the copper oxide Chemicals used: ( Include the amounts and concentrations) 5.05 ml of 5.93 molar H 2 SO 4 was added to the copper oxide. Observations: The gray precipitate turned a faint blue after the addition of the sulfuric acid. Step 5: Adding zinc Chemicals added: ( Include the amounts and concentrations) 0.9801 grams of zinc was added to the CuSO 4 solution. Observations:
