There is no consensus on a formal definition  of culture. However, there are some common elements  in definitions of culture. Shared characteristics among group members Physical (e.g. food, clothing, utensils)   Behavioral (e.g. norms, roles, customs, practices)   Symbolic (e.g. language, institutions) Subjective (e.g. beliefs, values, attitudes, ideas, general  knowledge)  Inter-generational transmission
