1) a. Process Reengineering i. Process reengineering is the fundamental rethinking and radical redesign of a process to improve performance 1. The people who are involved with the process each day are the best source of ideas on how to improve it 2. Not always needed nor successful b. Process Improvement i. The systematic study of activities and flows of a process to find ways to improve it 1. The purpose is to “learn the numbers” and understand the process and dig out the details on how it is done and can be improved. 2) Process Analysis a. The documentation and detailed understanding of how work is performed and how it can be redesigned b. Importance i. Processes may be the least understood and managed aspect of a business ii. A firm can not gain a competitive advantage with faulty processes iii. Processes can be analyzed and improved using certain tools and techniques iv. Process analysis can be accomplished using a six-step blueprint v. vi. Six Step BluePrint Approach
