The readings this week dealt with the theme of neo-colonialism in Latin  America.  Briefly neo-colonialism is when more advanced countries,  economically and politically, begin to impart their influence over lesser  developed countries.  It is not compared to imperialism, for there is never a  formal declaration of a take over.  In regards to our class and the readings  it focused on the U.S and European countries going into Latin America. The readings focused greatly on the time of the industrial revolution and  how change was seen in Latin America compared to that of the U.S. and  Europe.  Latin America was seeing great success with the exportation  business, as it adjusted to flow with the larger markets such as the U.S.  However this success was not seen by all Latin Americans, specifically it  was the elite and rich who reaped the benefits of this trade.  While the
