Contrary to popular opinion, the camera wasn’t invented by Kodak or George Eastman. It was actually invented many years earlier by a renowned French scientist Francois Arago, who discovered the daguerreotype process, the first commercially practical way to develop pictures. After that the calotype and ambyotype developing processes, color photography, as well as many other processes were invented that improved upon the original camera and photography. George Eastman (1854 – 1932) may not have done what most people think he has done, but he did revolutionize the photographic world, making cameras easier to use and film easier to develop. As a young man George took up the hobby of photography. Originally the photographer would have to use wet plates for film in his camera. These problematic plates required a tripod camera, a dark-tent, and various chemicals to be taken with you every time you wanted to use a camera. Eastman decided that there must be a better way to take pictures, and started to do research, reading every book and journal he could find on this topic. George began experimenting with
