Lecture 2 Sept NS1150 Autonomic nervous system. Love = assimilation of energy (very vulnerable when you are loving) Hate= dissipation of energy (expending energy and maximizing movement) Central control system Brain function - coordinate actions (programmed you don’t have to think about your movements such as walking) - Anticipate Actions (If you prepare then you can optimize the condition) - Brain is constantly trying to prepare through autonomic nervous system. Autonomic Nervous System - Parasympathetic: (love component) o Long neurons coming from the base of the brain. o Much more uniquely structured then sympathetic. o Assimilate energy (food into us, digest, circulation) o Discrete enervation: glands in the eye different from those in the salivary glands. o Acetylcholine (neurotransmitter that signals individual organs) - Sympathetic o Neurons come out of the spinal cord (right outside) o All of them are wired together… meaning all goes off when one goes off. o
