Leaders and Labels Each tape you make, with the exception of Assignment #1, must have a proper leader and be properly labeled. This leader enables quick identification of your work and shows that it conforms to proper technical parameters for broadcast. You will make this leader when you use the “print to tape” function (control + m). 1. Select an In point on the timeline at the beginning of your show and an Out point on your timeline at the end of your show. 2. Put a brand new blank tape in the deck. Fast forward it to the end, then rewind it to “unpack” it. 3. Hit (control + m) on the keyboard or find the menu function called “print to tape. 4. In the print to tape menu you will find a number of blanks to fill in: a. In the Leader section set Color Bars to 60 seconds. b. Tone: set the level to –20db (It defaults to –12 which is incorrect) c. In the next section set 5 seconds of black before the slate d. Set the Slate to 10 seconds and use the Text function to type into the
