JAZZ HISTORY 1900-1950 EXAM 2 REVIEW Here are some suggestions for study toward Exam 2 ( this is not an all-encompassing list; consult your notes ). The exam will consist of forty-five multiple-choice questions covering both class lectures and assigned reading in your text. If you missed one or more class sessions, consult a classmate for notes and then see your instructor. BRING A PENCIL! WE'LL SUPPLY THE COMPUTER FORMS. Selected vocabulary and concepts: rhythm section reed (or sax) section Rhythm changes trumpet section riff abstract (absolute) trombone section head arrangement territory band descriptive(programmatic) Listening: There will be five to seven listening examples on the test. Using criteria from your text and lectures, be able to distinguish Coleman Hawkins from Lester Young (discussed in lecture) and distinguish the swing style from early jazz (New Orleans). Also, be able to recognize the sound of: a pop song form with AABA melody (for example, "Meet the Flintstones"); the
