A blood clot is physiologic in cases of injury, but pathologic in case of thrombosis. A blood clot, or thrombus, is the final product of the blood coagulation step in hemotstasis.  A blood clot is physiologic in cases of injury, but pathologic in the case of thrombosis. This is the process in which our bodies produce a blood clot after injury.  This is how the process works throughout our body. A platelet plug is formed causing bleeding to stop.  The clotting factors cause strands of blood-borne materials to stick together.
