Dr. Ettienne-Modeste_BME 3150 Lecture Notes Theory • Statics - is the study of applied mechanics concerned with the analysis of rigid bodies in equilibrium. • E quilibrium - implies that the body of concern is either at rest or moving with a constant velocity. • Rigid body - is when an object undergo no deformation under the effect of externally applied forces. (It is an approximation, since there are no rigid materials in reality)
