POL 301 (Leighley) Research Paper Details Below is a checklist to use in writing your original research paper. Use the professional research articles in class as general examples of how to write an original paper; I will also bring some examples to class in the next few weeks. I will provide in class examples of using and interpreting the statistical analyses. 1. Final paper due by 4:00 on May 6 th 2. Rough drafts by 4:00 May 1 st . . . 3. 7-10 pages, bibliography, PLUS tables/graphs 4. Tables: at end on separate pages numbered with a title (describe what table is about ex. relationship between gender and voter turnout)) columns and rows should be labeled properly variable numbers should NOT be used “bottom-notes” should include data source, description of table entries, and probability levels of statistical test (chi2) 5. NO REPORT COVERS!!!!! 6. Title page with name, course number, title and date 7. Formatting: Double-spaced 12 point font Use complete sentences and paragraphs (3-5 sentences)
