Unformatted text preview: Laura Simon English 110-031 Professor Burns 2/21/07 Grades and Grade Inflations Grades are an important part of an educational career. Students strive to do well and get good grades and teachers try to get their students to succeed as well. In an effort for their children to get a good grade, parents and teachers provide incentives and rewards for the students. This is done because grades are very important, especially when in high school, when it is a major factor of what colleges look at. Grades test how much a student has learned and how much he/she understands. A good grade means honor roll and gets high recognition. Throughout a students academic career, he/she is pressured to succeed. The sign of succeeding is getting good grades. Good grades show that the student understands the material that is taught. Getting a good grade point average (GPA) is basically a ride to a good college and a good career. Businesses and educational institutions search for those that are well rounded and a good career....
