EE338K HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT #6 Op Amp Bias Parameters 1. + _ _ + R 1 =10k R 2 =90k R 3 E s E o R L =1k LM741 Use asymptotic conditions with the bias parameter values given in the Max column of the Electrical Characteristics listed (below) for the National Semiconductor LM741 Op Amp operating with T AMIN T A T AMAX and R S 10k to determine the value of the DC output voltage, E o , when E s = 0 Volts and V OS , I OS , and I B combine to produce worst case conditions for: (a) R3 = 0 Ω, (b) R3 = 9k Ω, (c) R3 = 20 k Ω. 2. + _ _ + R L =2k E o E s R 1 R 2 LM741 Using the same values for the bias parameters for the LM741 as used in problem 1, determine the largest values for R 1 and R 2 that will produce G = E o / E s = 100 and have the magnitude of the DC output voltage, E o , be no greater than 1 Volt when E s = 0 and when V OS , I OS , and I B combine to produce worst case conditions. 3. Download file “HW#6_Amplifier_Ckt.ms7”. This file contains an Op Amp feedback circuit that has the topology of Circuit 1 on homeworks 3, 4, and 5. Circuits with this topology have Asymptotic Gain, G = E o /E s = 1+R 2 /R 1 . With the values R 1 = 5k and R 2 = 495k the circuit in the file has G = E o /E s = 100. Since the input voltage, Es, is a 10 mV peak sine wave the output should be a sine wave with 1 V peak amplitude. The Op Amp in the circuit has bias parameters that are within the range listed for the LM741. Perform a simulation on the circuit to see that it does not work properly. This is because the bias quantities are producing a DC output that exceeds the 5V power supply voltages. Insert a resistor in series with the INV input that causes the equivalent resistance in the INV input
