Benjamin McKinney President Bud Peterson’s Investiture Program At the beginning of the ceremony various people, including the governor of Georgia Sonny Purdue and a University System of Georgia Board member, made short speeches and introduced Bud Peterson. Then, Peterson was given a mace and medallion as symbolic gifts. President Peterson went on to give a brief history of the institution. Then he talked about the reputation of many different aspects of the school. He explained how the athletic program is one of the oldest in the country, and the student athletes have had success both in athletics and in academics. Also, Georgia Tech alumni are the most dedicated to their school than any other alumni at any other school. The reputation of the different areas of study comes next. Georgia Tech is in the top ten schools in the country in every type of engineering offered, and in the top twenty-five in business management. He talked about many of the things that are being
