Procedure: 1.) Unknown solid #4 was massed at 9.974 g. It was repeated three times. 2.) The volume of the unknown solid was taken by displacement method. It was repeated three times 3.) The density of the solid was calculated. 4.) The volume of unknown liquid #2 was taken with a pipette at 10.00 mL. It was repeated three times. 5.) The mass of the unknown liquid was taken. A graduated cylinder was massed. The cylinder was filled with the unknown liquid and was massed again. The liquid-filled cylinder was massed another two times. 6.) The density of the unknown liquid was calculated. The silver-white color of the un-known solid matches the characteristics of the metal. The given density of Scandium is 3.0 g mL and the found density of unknown solid #4 was 2.99 g mL . The unknown liquid was determined to be ethyl acetate. It was a colorless liquid and smelled slightly like nail polish remover, both of which are characteristics of ethyl acet-ate. The given density of ethyl acetate is 0.9003 g mL and the found density of unknown liquid #2 was 0.8865 g mL . The relative average deviation was high for the volume of the solid, which is contributed to the displacement method used to find the volume since it is not accurate....
