Marketing is researching, analyzing, planning, executing and measuring all activities related to acquiring customers for products and services. It is a derivative of 'to market' which means, literally, to take your produce down to the local market and sell it so that we can buy feed for the cows, chickens etc. Communications plays a key role in, but is only a piece of, marketing. It is far more random and much harder to control. Marketing communications consists of the messages and related media used to communicate with a market. Traditionally, (it) focuses on the creation and execution of printed marketing collateral. Integrated marketing communications involves an optimal combination of communication elements in order to maximize effects and minimize losses. The Subject All strategies, tactics, & activities involved in getting the desired marketing messages to intended target markets, regardless of the media used.
