HELLEL NASSIM , BELLUCCI MATTEO , ESTRAMPES JULES , LANGLOIS ERWANTrends :The oculus journey started in 2009 , it was a brand new invention that was quite impressive even if the utility of the product was quite low. However there was a lot of problems linked to the damages itcould have done to your eyes that was brake for the product. Today, we’re approaching the end of 2019 and it’s a brand new world for this industry. VR products and experiences are becoming trendierwith IA, for example younger generation are addicted to Snapchat and Instagram that are two major tools for Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. Moreover , the gaming industry is growing fast , gamers are the most experienced users of this kind of technology in that way , thus the sector is only more favourably affected. Even if these targets are the major ones , nowadays a lot of other sector industry are friable of product like the Oculus rift. They’re used for consumer entertainment : cinema’s are using them sometimes to show a brand new experience that they would like to introduce to the public. NBA is proposing to basketball’s fans to live a live experience as close as possible to the players. Virtual Reality is also used for education and training , here let’s see the example of Wallmart who’s using VR to train their employees. Using this tool they’re able to learn , without any risk of doing any mistake. This system is also cutting the costs of the training that the company should provide . Finally another sector is well impacted by the growth of the sector : travel companies. They can show to their clients an immersive video of the product , here their next travel, on how good it can be. It’s a try it before you buy it experience. Taking all this information into account a lot of challengers have entered the market : Google with their DayDream VR , Samsung with the Samsung Gear VR , HTC and their HTC Vive , and finally Sony and their console VR : the Sony Playstation VR. Facebook Oculus Rift main competitor is the Samsung Gear VR , they sold 2.317 million VR sets out of a total of 4,5 million in 2018. If we take in consideration the selling since 2014 Google is their major competitors since they have sold until now 84 million of VR headset for mobile, this was due to the cheap price and early release. VR experience is getting more and more immersive progressively with the technology and the consumer’s demand as they want new more experience , more linked with the reality even if it’s out of our world, for the moment.Strengths Currently, the Oculus Rift’s greatest strength is that it’s the standard in VR gaming. If users want the first-person video game experience, they would have to purchase this product. This strength is not long lived as other companies and startups will rise and receive enough funding to rival Oculus.
