Questions 1. What are three principal fuels burned at the plant? The three principal fuels used at the plant are natural gas, coal, and fuel oil. 2. Which is the primary fuel used, and why? The primary fuel used is coal because it us the cheapest available. 3. What are three types of utility that the Wade Utility Plant provides to Purdue? Three types of utilities provided by the plant are electricity, heating/AC, and water distribution. 4. Approximately how much of the campus electrical requirements does Wade provide? The Plant provides about 50% of the campus’s electrical requirements. 5. How many steam generators are there and what is the steam capacity of each? There are four steam generators in the Plant. The capacity of each is 200,000 steam/ hr. 6. How many turbine generators are there and what is the electrical power output of each? There are two turbine generators in the plant. The electrical output is 12,500 volts
