IMPLEMENTATION AND EVALUATION2Introduction:After reviewing the information gathered through the windshield survey, genogram/ecomap, and interview, I have a few suggestions that I believe could be implemented through a program. First it appears that the jail has many resources, but they are all utilized separately. Mental healthdoes their own thing, case managers do their own, nursing staff, etc. The staff need to be trained on the EBP of CBT and BIs. BIs could be introduced by the nursing staff and CBT could be initiated by the mental health staff and the addictions counselors. Then by working with the COAT team, they could ensure that inmates continue with this on the outside by using the community resources.According to the results of a national survey in 2013, there were five different reasons for not receiving substance abuse treatment. One was the lack of healthcare coverage, two was not beingready to stop, three was they did not know where to go for treatment, four was that their health care coverage did not cover the treatments, and lastly was that they did not have transportation orit was inconvenient (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 2014). Although no one can be forced to want to stop, all of the other barriers can be addressed prior to release from the jail to prevent the barriers. As previously stated, case managers at Wicomico County Detention Center can help people prior to release obtain health care coverage. This can help them get into treatment faster due to coverage of costs. Then the COAT team can work with them with other barriers. The COAT team is a “peer assisted” support group made up by members of the community (Wicomico County Health Department, 2018). This group of people are recovering addicts who offer 24/7 support, help to connect to local resources, can help gain access to treatment, offer support to family and loved ones, offer ongoing follow-up, and more (Wicomico County Health Department, 2018). This

Having that intervention also covers the need for therapeutic communities to be initiated as they can help get them into those communities upon release.Family therapy can be a huge indicator for whether the treatments are successful. The term family does not necessarily mean blood relatives but can include immediate family members, extended family members and elected families, or those choose to be a willing support (Kaufman& Yoshioka, 2004). Family therapy in regard to substance abuse and addictions, helps to find each family’s strengths and resources and utilizes them in order to help with treatment. Family
