BIO 112 Module 5 Lab 5 2/16/20 Chemical Energy and Lizard Push-Ups Introduction Male lizards use push-ups to attract other mates during the breeding season. Aside from bringing attention to themselves they use this action to defend territory from other males during the breeding season. Scientists study the action of lizard push-ups to better understand different communication styles among different breeds of animals, especially ones used in reproduction. Materials & Methods When completing this lab, I used the YouTube video titled “Lizard Push-Up” to visually count how many push-ups the lizard did. I calculated the total push-ups by counting how many push- ups the lizard did and how long it took him to do it. The assumptions we made for this lab are: there are 121 dietary calories in 100 grams of crickets, the crickets each weigh 0.5 grams each, it takes 0.1 dietary Calories of energy for the lizard too do one push-up, the lizard in the video
