1. Yeast: the first organism to choose its mates using chemical signaling (cell  signaling) 2. Cytoplasm: Regulates cell activities and transcription in nucleus 3. Paracrine Transport: local chemical transport mechanism 4. Phosphorylation Cascade: involves a series of protein kinases that amplify  original signals 5. cAMP: second messenger that uses the cell cycle as a means of transport 6. Ligand: a smaller cell that binds to a receptor, thus transmitting a signal 7. Second Messanger: use other mechanisms, such as bonding, to transmit  signals throughout organism (rather than just transport alone) 8. Response: result of the signal on any part of the body, or on any individual
