How to create a physical layout (.dxf) file This handout describes the process by which students will create a physical layout of an electrical design made in Agilent ADS. Substrate will have copper on both sides of the board when arriving in the PC- Board shop. The thinnest conductor width that the PC-board can make is 10 mils, and the smallest conductor-to-conductor spacing they can make is 8 mils. 1. In ADS schematic, select the menu Layout>Generate/Update Layout . When a new window appears, click the OK button. 2. When the Status of Layout Generation windows pops up, click the

Select all artwork, and go to the menu Edit>Component>Flatten . 5. Select all artwork, and go to the menu Edit>Merge>Union . 6. Go to the menu File>Export . 7. When a new window appears, select File Type: DXF (flattened) , and click the OK button. 8. When MTOOLS window appears, click the Translate button. A DXF file will be saved in your project directory.
