Overall there are eight attributes to supportive communication. The first one is congruent, not incongruent. This is a focus on honest messages in which verbal statements match thought and feelings. Joshua falls into congruent because he will always say what he is thinking. He’s not afraid to tell team members what is on his mind. The second attribute is descriptive, not evaluative. This focuses on describing an objective occurrence, describing your reaction to it, and offering a suggested alternative. Joshua is descriptive because in our team discussions he’ll help others with their ideas and give them ways of improving on them. Problem oriented, not person oriented is the third attribute. This is a focus on problems and issues that can be changed rather then people and their characteristics. Joshua is more in-between orientations because when he is faced with problems he sometimes focuses on the problem and sometimes on who created the problem.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
