E.g. for oxygen absorption at 60 GHz, we have 10 dB loss per kilometer. For three kilometer transmission, we lose 30 dB. Note that absorption/scattering loss (in dB) can be more significant than distance loss, because distance loss is logarithmic in d but medium loss is linear in d . We may add a coding gain resulting from the use of error correction codes. 2.
