Introduction The objective of this lab is to calibrate the rotameter that is part of the packed bed still by calculating the flow rate of the water. The rotameter is there to regulate water flow to the condenser of the distillation column. Using the equation , we can find the volumetric flow rate (Q) if we first measure the mass flow rate (W). Since we are using water we already know the density ( ). Procedure

Discussion One of the first things to identify, is the number highlighted in red on the excel spreadsheet. These numbers indicate that measurement of the water fluctuated from the given number and 0.1kg below it. This was solved by just rounding up. We can just round up because we can assume that the second decimal place is either high if the first decimal is the lower, or low if the first decimal value is the higher. This could be solved
