Chemistry 41 Fall 2005 Review Sheet Exam I This review sheet is designed to help you prepare for Exam I. The topics, terms, concepts and questions presented in this review sheet are representative of the major areas covered up through Exam I. You should note that this review sheet is not all inclusive. Anything that was discussed in lecture or that was discussed in your reading assignments is fair game for an exam. My exams typically consist of calculation type problems , definitions , compare & contrast , and short answer questions , where I may ask you to explain a concept, formula or chemical phenomena. Some exams will have more calculation type problems whereas others will be a mix of quantitative and qualitative type problems. My exams are designed to test whether you understand the material and concepts, not whether you can simply memorize a lot of facts. Do not simply re-work the same problems over and over. Stop and think about how you are using a formula, what concept(s) are being demonstrated and how the problem can be changed. There are many ways to set up and ask a problem, depending on what information I give you. Do not wait until the week or weekend before the exam to begin studying. You should be studying a little bit every day. Although it is important to understand how to work the problems, it is also important that you learn and understand the material conceptually.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
