BMEN 305: Lab #7: Digital Stethoscope Lab Introduction The students will build a circuit to acquire a signal from a microphone connected to a stethoscope. The microphone bias circuit will be taken from the microphone data sheet. After building and testing the bias circuit, the students will design and build an amplifier circuit with a gain of between 7 and 10. They will build or use a VI to acquire this signal. They will also modify the VI to include a heart rate monitor and an optional alarm system. Materials Operational amplifier 741 x 1 Resistors 2.2 k x 1 1 M x 1 as needed for amp. Capacitor 0.1 μ F x 1 ELVIS LabVIEW Note Use stethoscope on carotid artery just below left jaw. Lab Procedure PART 1: See the attached data sheet for the microphone for part 1. 1. The microphone must be biased for proper operation. The data sheet contains a simple bias circuit for the microphone as well as performance characteristics. Build the circuit as shown except r eplace the 1 μF capacitor with an 0.1 μF capacitor.
