The Road Article Two By: J.A. Gray Brittani Reinhard J.A. Gray begins the article analysis with a summary of the novel stating in brief  that it is a story of just a father and a son traveling through a burned-over country, alone  except for the roving bands of cannibals. Gray explains that this may have been cause  by nuclear missiles although it has never been stated. Gray also explains that the father  and son have been long since abandoned by their once wife/mother. Gray in the article explains the idea of death essentially being a lover to the once  wife/mother. Although this is not an ideal the father embraces this is the ideal she wants  to believe in and she does not want to pursue any more of the conditions. She then left  them, committing suicide to get away from it all. This leaves just the father and the son  fighting there way southward while, as Gray states, the father curses God. Gray then continues on in her article to explain the weakness of the book in an
