What are the behavioral consequences? Describe how dopamine, cAMP, CREB, and dynorphin are involved. What does CREB stand for? 3. Describe the lasting changes found in the brains of drug abusers (in the nucleus accumbens, ventral tegmental area, and anterior cingulate gyrus) and try to explain why each of these changes might be related to the intense cravings and unrealistic expectations that typically accompany long-term abuse and which make it very difficult psychologically for a drug abuser to quit.
