The welfare costs of departures from perfect competition are examined, and students are introduced to game theory and the economics of information. (Prerequisite: ECON 2106 and ECON 2105 and ( MATH 2200 or MATH 2250 ).) Course Materials Textbook: Pindyck, Robert S. and D. L. Rubinfeld. Microeconomics , 7 th edition, Pearson-Prentice Hall, 2009. Study Guide (Optional, but Highly Recommended): Hamilton, Jonathan H. and V. Y. Suslow. Study Guide: Microeconomics , 7 th edition, Pearson-Prentice Hall, 2009. (ISBN 9780132080248) Course Requirements This course is a building block on every economics course you will take. It is important to understand the material presented. You are expected to work hard, actively participate in class, ask questions when you have any doubts, and perform to the very best of your ability. To be successful in this course, you should read every chapter assigned, take excellent lecture notes, complete all assigned homework problems and ask questions. This is an extremely challenging course and an extensive amount of outside work is required to be successful. Your final grade will be based on the following components: Exams 1, 2, 3 20% each Final Exam
