Chris Stanton D SOC 112 Portfolio Introduction Throughout the semester, my knowledge and understanding of militarization has grown and expanded with every discussion, reading, and assignment. Revisiting the piece of writing from the first day of class allowed me to compare what I thought militarization was back then and what I know it is now. Each writing assignment, including the first piece, both increased my understanding of militarization as well as my writing skills. Writing argumentatively was a weakness of mine in the past, but now I feel fully capable of taking on any task involving argumentative writing. The essay I wrote on the first day of class revealed to me how much I have grown over the past semester. When asked to write about militarization affected my daily life, I focused on how my daily schedule was regimented and how my living arrangements made me feel ‘isolated’ from the rest of campus. Looking back on this piece allowed me to see what aspects of militarization I was aware of and which ones I had obviously never considered. With the
