Teaching Assistants: Alia Eccles ([email protected]) and Andrew Harbut ([email protected]) Tuesday and Thursday noon until 2:00 PM and Wednesday 10:00 until noon. Required Text: Kidwell and Parrino , Fundamentals of Corporate Finance, John Wiley and Sons, 2007. Note: The text will be available early September. We will use the Supplement until the text is available Description of the Course: An introduction to the valuation of real and financial assets with applications to financial management. Topics include estimating cash flows and required rates of return, discounted cash flow valuations, capital budgeting, the use of debt and equity financing, and short-term financial planning. Prerequisites: ACC 240, ECN 112 and QBA 221. These prerequisites are mandatory and for good reason as this course utilizes the material you have learned in the prerequisite courses. Calculators and Spreadsheet Analysis: A financial calculator will be useful and serve to save time on calculations, but a calculator that can handle the basic four functions plus exponentiation/logarithms/roots and has reasonable memory capability will be adequate. The use of Excel in Spreadsheet analysis will also be taught and mastered in the Discounting Functions.
